Taxonomy Code: RP-1500.1550-050

Programs that provide a short-term residential alternative to emergency room care or inpatient hospitalization for adults in need of urgent care and 24-hour support related to a mental or behavioral health crisis, substance use disorder, or both. Referrals to the program may be from first responders including law enforcement officers, paramedics, and fire department personnel; mobile response crisis teams, and district attorneys. These facilities typically offer a homelike, secure environment with fewer than 16 beds to address a participant's immediate physical and mental health needs, including stabilization support, recovery-oriented counseling, and referrals to community resources.
