Medical Reserve Corps

A Citizens Corp program operating under the direction of the Surgeon General of the U.S. whose objective is to recruit, coordinate and mobilize doctors, nurses and other medical professionals who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to local emergencies. MRC volunteers supplement existing emergency and public health resources in times of emergency; and may also assist their communities with ongoing public health needs e.g., immunizations, screenings, health and nutrition education, and volunteering in community health centers and local hospitals.
