Description:
The Tobacco Prevention Program in Volusia County is dedicated to the prevention and reduction of tobacco use in the community. The program is part of the statewide Tobacco Free Florida intiative whose goals are to inspire Floridians to quit smoking and discourage youth from starting. Young people ages 13-18 can participate in Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) where they join the fight against big tobacco and help their communities become tobacco free. We utilize a comprehensive approach to help apartment complexes and other multi-unit dwellings develop smoke-free policies, educate employers about the benefits of a tobacco free workforce and assist with offering cessation opportunities to employees. Anyone can join the local coalition, Tobacco Free Florida Volusia County Partnership, which is working to establish a tobacco free environment by advocating for policy changes and educating decision makers about the impact of tobacco on all of our lives. For free help to quit smoking or other tobacco products, call the toll-free Florida Quitline 1-877-U-CAN-NOW (1-877-822-6669) or visit www.TobaccoFreeFlorida.com.
