Insect Collector Clubs

Taxonomy Code: PS-8200.1400-330

Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in collecting butterflies, moths, spiders, beetles and other insects, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Activities may include field trips which enable participants to collect different types of insects; a forum for members to share their own collections and methods for capturing, preserving and displaying specimens; and opportunities for members to buy, trade or sell specimens. Included are Internet-based virtual clubs, WebRings devoted to the subject and clubs where members meet face-to-face.
